A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

Sewing

I know, I know you are the ultimate killer... a hardened warrior of the wasteland who doesn't take crap from anyone... why should you learn to sew?

Let's just keep in mind that marines learn to do all their own sewing

There are many different situations where sewing will come in handy.

In a Great Depression type situation,
there will probably not be much money for new clothes, forcing you to make your current clothes last a lot longer.

In the case of a supply chain management failure, you will also need to make things last until things get back on track

Also, as resources become more scarce on a global scale, the same will apply.

So, let's start with something easy. Sewing on a button:
It's important to remember, in many cases you will be stuck with what you already have... so make sure you build a full sewing kit before any problems. also, make sure you practice fairly regularly. If the net goes down, and you don't have a 'nanna' with the old skills you will be on your own in trying to remember how to do this.
