Bushcraft > Fire > CharCloth Char cloth
Char cloth is a small piece of easily combustible material that has been converted via pyrolysis into charcoal. It is often made of cloth, but can be made of a variety of man made and natural fabrics.
Because of it's low ignition point, it's used as a tinder to get a fire started.
To make it, you place the material used into small tin that has a hole drilled in it. (shoe polish tin, altoids can etc.). You place the tin into the fire and cook it. Burning it in an almost oxygen free environment turns it into char cloth. (It's the same process as charcoal and biochar).
