Backup Power Supply

Really look at specs. The one we bought is too underpowered. Good for phone or Laptops.

Some people call these solar generators, but the units are generally just a battery and inverter. You need to purchase the solar panel 'generating' part separately.

City prepping has good Play List about all the different models.

Show what I have that it can run, and how to see. Look up 300 wat stuff. Not a lot. Plus runtime on the devices.

Some of these devices have the ability to output and input power at the same time. This allows you to plug them into the cigarette lighter socket in your car, and charge it while you drive, as well as use it to charge your phones, or laptop.

I like this ability, as it opens a lot of possibilities. You could generate electricity pretty much any way (wind power), and feed it into the unit to keep it running indefinitely. Even if you are generating less voltage than the item in question uses, you can still feed it into the unit, and pull a full charge out at the same time.

Another option would be to pre-charge a few batteries (Ie. car battery's daisy chained) over a couple days with alternative energy, then feed it all into the unit to extend it's life.

Again, it is all dependent on the wattage your unit is rated at, so get the biggest you can afford.
