Preservation > Smoking Smoking
Smoking is not the first preservation method a prepper is going to turn to, but it does have a place in your skillset.
Smoked meat is not meant for long term storage. Where it shines is it's ability to make it last for a couple of weeks with almost no equipment or supplies. It is also not the most flavorful preservation method.
A typical usage might be to kill some game, and preserve any leftovers for the rest of a journey.
Time=6-18+ hours.
I was surprised to find you can actually process all types of foods-vegetables, fruits, nuts, herbs and even spices. If you mix meat and non meat in smoking round make sure the meat is below the other foods. You don't want the meat juice contaminating the other foods.
