Under pressure, you don’t rise to the occasion, you sink to the level of your training.
That’s why we train so hard.

Non Lethal

Canada has very strict self defense weapons laws. It's illegal to carry anything for the purpose of self-defense, be it gun, baseball bat, or even a pen knife.

The key phrase is your intent is to use an item for self defense, not the type of item it is.

Most non lethal weapons are even illegal own. Mace and pepper spray, tasers etc.

** Your best bet would be to have everyday items a normal person might carry, and learn to use them defensively if needed.

** my strategy is to carry a flashlight. If attacked I can shine it in their face and run.

One trick security guards employ are Maglite's which are large heavy flashlights weighted towards the head. Flashlights would be classified as a tool, but if attacked they can be used as a defensive weapon.

While the average Joe might look a little weird wearing a bat-belt and Maglite, Having one in you car could prove beneficial.

Bottom Line: Never carry any weapons in Canada, but prepare for the worst. Have access to the equipment you you need, and the training to use it properly.

Have a plan on how you will handle self defense before and after a SHTF event. You are going to be held accountable when things are over.
