Flashlight

A flashlight is a great piece of safety equipment you can always carry.

** Give you an idea how to use it. ** embed

First line of defense would be blinding someone with a bright light and just running away, or shifting position while they are seeing spots in the dark.

If someone rushes and attacks you and you happen to strike them with an item in your hand, I have to believe a court would be more lenient with you than pulling a weapon. (as always, consult your own lawyer though).

** There are lot's of skills you can learn with a flashlight. breaking holds etc, but always focus on getting away!

Red light option allows you to retain night vision.

While you can get all kinds of strike bezels for your flashlight, keep in mind it changes peoples perception of your flashlight.

You can almost always get a regular flashlight through airport security or into a club but once you add a strike bezel, it might look more aggressive.

If you were to actually hit someone with it, my guess the police would be more likely to classify it as a weapon than a normal flashlight, possibly leading to charges.

I can't imagine the extra damage a strike bezel would inflict would be worth the hassle-in Canada at least.

If your light has different settings, only use as much as necessary to complete your task.

If you are looking for something, and you have a weapon available put the flashlight in your non dominant hand.

One thing you might want to consider is a Maglite for your car. It's large enough to do real damage, but still classified as a tool.
