Carbine

Technically a carbine is a rifle, but I wanted to distinguish between a hunting rifle, and a combat rifle.

Carbines are usually automatic weapons

When I started looking into longer weapons, I was surprised a carbine is preferred for CQB indoors.

I would have expected people would prefer a handgun to allow them more space. It seems like in a tight space people would grab the barrel of a rifle or carbine, and wrestle it away from you.

When you see a true 'master of their craft' person working with a carbine though, you start to understand.

In general, handguns are seen as a small hidden weapon you can carry around with you. If you have a carbine with you, a handgun would be used to make space to get your carbine out.
